Take Action
Volunteer
The People over Profits campaign needs hundreds of volunteers to knock on doors, call voters, register voters and show up at campaign events. We also need help with research, media advocacy, data entry, analysis and reporting, and coordination of campaign resources and activities.
While we have a campaign manager and field director, we are currently looking for a volunteer coordinator to help us manage a growing roster of campaign volunteers.
Power in diversity
Unlike my opponents in this race, I am building a multi-cultural campaign organization that is reflective of our highly diverse Northside neighborhoods. It is common knowledge that despite the rich cultural diversity over North, most of us are racially/ethnically segregated in our social lives. Furthermore, the vast majority of our community members are not civically engaged, and it’s not just low-income people of color, as I’ve heard suggested.
The People over Profits campaign intends to knock on every door in our district to ask everyone to join us in organizing a robust voter turn-out in 2012, and building the community’s political power by organizing and advocating for progressive legislation at the state Capitol after the election. We need elders and youth involved! We need African Americans, European Americans, Asian Americans, Latino Americanos, and Native Americans to join the People over Profits campaign in organizing members of your respective community to raise their voices in deciding who gets elected, and how the Northside will be represented by our elected officials.
